The start of our new school building journey

There’s nothing like seeing the first building frame constructed to know that Mercia Academy’s temporary new school is on its way!

In February, the building contractor sent through the first picture and since then, have gone on to construct more than 30 modular frames that will make up part of our temporary school building, due to open ready for the autumn term 2024.

While the construction of frames continues, those already built are now being fitted out, so that they are insulated and watertight, ready to be delivered on to site over the summer months.

Towards the end of March, contractors will start their initial work on site at Sunnyside, ready to dig the first foundations at the beginning of April.
