Mr N Holmes

Mr Holmes began his career as an English teacher at De Ferrers Specialist Technology College in 1990, and was promoted to the Leadership Team as Assistant Principal and then to Vice Principal. During this time the school was rated as Outstanding by Ofsted. He worked closely with Alistair Smith on the Alite Learning 2 Learn programme and with the SSAT as the “Deeps” were developed as an approach to school organisation. Mr Holmes became Principal of The de Ferrers Academy in 2015 and led on the successful acquisition of the Sixth Form Campus in the town centre.

Mr Holmes moved to The Mercia Academy in September 2019, with a leadership responsibility for Teaching and Learning and was then promoted to Deputy Head Teacher for Quality of Education. The school was recognised by Ofsted and the Local Authority for its contribution to remote learning during the pandemic, and QofE was judged to be Good in the inspection of May 2022.
