Ms J Cooper

A Tibetan proverb says, ‘A child without education is like a bird without wings.’ For our students to fulfil their potential and have all the opportunities they deserve, education and a love of learning are essential.

Ms Cooper began her teaching career in Birmingham in 1995 and worked in a number of inner-city schools, moving from Head of English to Senior Leadership roles for Teaching, Curriculum and Student Progress with further experience in SEN, enrichment and vocational provision. Whilst travelling in Sweden and Singapore, Ms Cooper completed an MA in Education and tutored students for English language.

Prior to the headship at Merica Academy, Ms Cooper was Deputy Principal in a school in Leicester City where outcomes were significantly improved and the school gained a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted.
